Teddington Artists at the Normansfield Victorian Theatre
Teddington's Two Best Kept Secrets
29-30 September 2018
In 1990 a group of like-minded artists got together at the instigation of Ann Swan - the highly-respected botanical artist – to form a group who would meet, exchange ideas and exhibit together. They were just twelve, they all lived in Teddington, they were all professional and well-thought-of in their respective specialisms. Teddington Artists was born.
In 1991 they held their first exhibition in the extraordinary Victorian theatre in Normansfield and have continued the tradition of an annual show ever since. Over the years the show has shifted location: first to historical Bushy House inside the National Physical Laboratory and then to the spectacular new atrium at the main entrance to the NPL.
In 2016, the exhibition returned to that original venue and for the foreseeable future will once again be in Normansfield's lovely theatre - Grade II* listed and with a magnificent decorated proscenium and the largest collection of original Victorian scenery in the UK. It is a quite wonderful sight
The 27th show –the Teddington Artists Art Fair - will take place there over the weekend of 29/30 September. There will be thirteen Teddington Artists and five guests to offer a magnificent range of fine art - painting, prints, textile art, photography, ceramics, jewellery and sculpture.
