Following her degree in graphic design, Gillie began work at Woman’s Weekly magazine, as a diagram artist.
Although she drew every day at work, she felt it wasn’t ‘artistic’ enough and started painting as a hobby, eventually showing and selling her paintings. Her chief loves are the sea and landscape but botanically-inspired themes regularly creep into the mix, along with local scenes.
She paints in oils and watercolours and tries to draw something every day. Now retired, she intends to take up printing and to paint dogs.
