Katie Palmer is an contemporary wildlife artist, from Durban, South Africa, now residing in Teddington, London, with her husband and three children.
Following a career in architecture, the change in pace and priority of motherhood sparked a transition from structured lines and rigid forms, to rediscover the freedom and expressive potential of painting. Her work now blends the precision of an architect's eye with the spontaneity and emotion of abstract art.
Equipped with palette knife and acrylics, she creates bold, textured strokes that capture the essence of wildlife in a way that feels raw and authentic.
"Painting wildlife brings me a great sense of joy and fulfillment. It is a visual exploration into light and shadow, robust and fragile, mighty and miniture. The chance to immerse myself in the detail and variety of creation - then to share that connection with others, inspiring appreciation and conservation of the world's magnificent creatures."
