Madeline Morrow is an artist who combines the classic with the contemporary in small personal-size oil paintings. Trained in the traditional method, she updates her work with a joyful palette, most often using a square format.
Madeline focuses on still life compositions, celebrating the beauty of simple, often overlooked everyday items. “It was a long-ago encounter with a small floral still life by Manet on the wall in a museum in Paris that eventually informed the work I do. One of the smallest works on the gallery wall, it beckoned to be viewed closely which made it all the more charming. It also inspired me to learn to paint glass, which seemed so magical!”
Madeline still finds glass magical and, delights also in painting vintage items, small bouquets of flowers -- especially seasonal garden varieties, small landscapes and the occasional portrait. She exhibits in London and at the SVAN Gallery in America.
