Susan Macarthur is a Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen. She studied Fine Art at California State Long Beach and Laguna Beach School of Art and whilst drawing, painting and sculpting discovered fabric and stitch. On returning to England she has gone on to experiment with different techniques and materials to portray the human form.
‘I come from a background of life drawing/painting and have always been drawn to the drama of the human form. My work is a combination of painting together with fabric, thread, paper, acrylic paint and fabric dyes. I like the unpredictable occurrences that can arise with these materials. Pattern plays a large role in her work as it helps to provide depth and texture.’
Susan shows her work through galleries, exhibitions and art fairs – upcoming events can be found on her website.
